If you want a washboard stomach, you need to pay attention to more than just your workouts. In fact, diet accounts for at least 60% of a flat, lean stomach.
You probably know that to be lean enough to have six-pack abs, your diet will need to be very clean. Lots of lean protein, vegetables, water, and other natural low-fat high-nutrient foods. What you might not realize, though, is that you will need to eat more often - in fact, as many as five or six meals a day.
The purpose of having five or six meals is to spread out the calories you consume during the day. The traditional “three square meals” loads you up with too many calories at once. As a result, your body is unable to burn off the excess calories at each of these large meals. The extra calories get stored as - you guessed it - fat.
The lesson here is take the total number of calories that you are going to consume per day (according to your exercise plan) and divide them by five or six. This gives the the calories you should consume for each of your meals.
