The Podiatry in South Africa

February 16th, 2010 by admin

A country where 44 million people lived and only has 150 podiatrists and one small training school is no other than South Africa. In Australia it has a population of almost 20 million and has a lot of podiatrists which comes about 1500 and 7 training schools (all bigger than the one in South Africa!). Something does not seem right here. There must be either an extraordinary unmet need in the population in South Africa or they just do not need podiatrists as they do not have foot problems. It is most likely the former and not the later. The podiatry in South Africa has a very long way to went to in educating the population and recruiting possible new students into the training program.
